Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father, who is in heaven, may also forgive you your transgressions.

Mark 11:25 · Forgiveness
Reflection 1

Have you ever tried to pray, but your mind keeps drifting to that person who hurt you? It’s hard to have a clear conversation with God when we are holding tightly to a grudge. Jesus knew that carrying resentment acts like static on the line of our communication with heaven.

Reflection 2

Forgiving someone doesn't mean what they did was okay, and it doesn't mean you have to be best friends with them tomorrow. It simply means you are choosing to drop the heavy bags of bitterness you've been carrying around. When we choose to let go of an offense, we are actually freeing ourselves to experience God's peace.

Reflection 3

Take a moment today before you pray to do a quick heart check. Is there a coworker, family member, or friend you are quietly holding something against? Bring that specific frustration to God, ask Him to help you release it, and watch how it opens up your heart to receive His daily grace for your own mistakes.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You for the incredible grace and forgiveness You show me every single day. Please show me who I need to forgive, and give me the strength to let go of any bitterness I'm holding onto. Help my heart remain soft toward others so nothing stands in the way of my relationship with You. Amen.
